Waste Management is one of the few areas that can potentially reshape the economy of the country if implemented correctly.
To provide traction, and to create a better system to understand the underlying problem in order to develop effective solutions, the School of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), has initiated a certificate course in Solid Waste Management, the first session commenced on July 2020 last year.
The programme, as specified by the authority of the university, started with an objective to instil in every learner an insightful understanding of the problem of waste generation and its impact on the environment and human health. The programme also aims to provide in-depth knowledge of the legislation, info, and practices involved in waste management in India. The programme can be completed in a time frame of a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 2 years. It’s a distance learning programme, with Hindi†as the medium of instruction.
