The Government of the United States of America has stepped forward to aid Sri Lankan Government in effectively manage the plastic waste problem across the nation.
The United States is expected to release the fund to better the plastic waste management problem in Sri Lanka. The ultimate goal behind backing the nation's ever-rising plastic waste problem is to limit the amount of plastic waste that enters the ocean. The fund will be released via US-AID.
As per the Ecocnomynext, the US Ambassador when speaking with Colombo Alaina Teplitz, highlighted the importance of undergoing partnerships, coordination at the local as well as national level, collaboration, and formulating solutions at local as well as at a community level as the key factors to positively revamp the environmental problems.
There are principles under the Clean Cities and Blue Ocean Program and it will help Sri Lankans develop sustainable solutions to protect the precious sea around the US Envoy added.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce is launching a pilot project to promote the responsibility of local producers for the environmental impacts of their products. Awareness campaigns will also be integrated into the program with the support of national and local authorities.
Campaigns will thoroughly take into consideration the need for awareness of the detrimental impact of plastic waste on seas and oceans.
