Janaki Viswam, a 92-year-old resident of Chennai, spends her time making various products like table mats, toaster covers and pouches from plastic bags and waste.
Janaki Viswam is a 92-year-old enthusiastic crafter based in Chennai. Her 72-year-old son, Ramakrishnan R V (Raja), describes her as an artistic person and adds that for as long back as he can remember she has always been nifty with her artwork.
Janaki makes beautiful products for daily usage with discarded plastic and waste. Table mats, luggage tags, toaster covers, carry bags and even small pouches to carry money and hold letters. She doesn’t do all this monetary gains but with the sole purpose of staying busy.
“I am fruitfully engaged and my mind does not wander to unnecessary things. It also helps keep my cognitive skills going. What more can I ask for at this age?” says Janaki.
“The patience that Amma [Janaki] has is just incredible. She is the glue that holds us together. At 92, when we ought to be looking after her, she continues to hold the mantle and is still in charge of running the house,” says Raja. Janaki is a fiercely independent woman and is also an inspiration to the younger generation in the family.
In 2019 when Tamil Nadu introduced a plastic ban in the state, Janaki started thinking of ways to upcycle and recycle the existing plastic covers at home. “That was when I started experimenting with various products. I started learning by watching videos on YouTube,” Janaki says. While she is not adept at using the phone and navigating YouTube, her daughter-in-law helps with finding the videos of interest.
The first few products that Janaki made were luggage tags and coasters.
She would wait for people to visit her so she could give them these gifts. “The entire charm for her lies in being able to gift all she makes. She has no monetary interest in making any of these products,” adds Raja. Janaki displays all her products and allows her guests to choose whatever they like the most. “That is what gives her immense happiness,” he says.
Find Ways To Stay Busy
Janaki’s mantra that has helped her stay mentally agile is to stay busy. It is also something that she often tells the younger generation to follow. “There are times when we have no plastic at home so we go scouting for it. Since plastic covers are now hard to come by as and when she finds it, she starts thinking of what she will make with it,” says Raja.

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said
“You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!

Been playing at Tenobet for February, and I reckon I’ve got a fair bit of experience to say something useful. Came across it through someone on another board who was after a site with decent game coverage without the usual deposit limit nagging you run into now on the UK licensed sites. Worth saying up front: this isn’t UK Gambling Commission licensed and it isn’t on GamStop, which is either the point or a dealbreaker.
Game selection’s pretty huge — about 4,000+ slots going by the counter, with the names you’d want are all there: Pragmatic, Net Ent, Play n GO, BTG, Betsoft, Microgaming. Personally I grind Sweet Bonanza plus Gates of Olympus, both run fine on mobile browser. The live rooms are all Evolution, so you know what you’re getting — actual dealers, Crazy Time and Lightning Roulette for a change of pace. Sports betting’s bolted on as well, and it I’ve dabbled in on footy, it’s fine, nothing more.
On the sign-up offer it’s 100% up to ?125 plus 100 spins thrown in, you have to use the code JOIN002 at deposit or it won’t trigger. Check the playthrough before you commit, it’s not the loosest either. Don’t expect free credit without depositing unfortunately. If you want to see the live offers, they’re listed over on tenobet review rather than taking my word for it. Min deposit’s ?10, standard stuff, registration took under five minutes.
Payments have been the better half in my experience. Cards go through, e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller are supported, and crypto if you prefer. E-wallet withdrawals have landed within a day; cards were closer to three days. The one thing that annoyed me was KYC — they took 36-48 hours to clear my documents, and my first withdrawal sat waiting until that cleared. Nothing shady about it, just a bit of a wait.
Couple of niggles: there’s no app, so it’s the mobile site. It’s responsive enough on my phone though I’d prefer a proper app. Logging in is occasionally sluggish around weekend evenings. Customer service at Tenobet is fine — maybe five minutes to get a human, but the opening messages are copy-paste. Push past that and they’re helpful enough.

Been punting on Tenobet for the spring, so I reckon I’ve got enough experience to actually comment. Stumbled on it via someone on another board who wanted a site with decent lobby depth that didn’t have all the affordability checks you see everywhere now on the UK licensed sites. Right, important bit: it’s not UK Gambling Commission licensed and it isn’t on GamStop, and that is either the point or a dealbreaker.
The lobby is genuinely big — somewhere around 3,000+ titles last I looked, with the usual heavy hitters all turn up: Pragmatic Play, Net Ent, Play n GO, Big Time Gaming, Yggdrasil, Microgaming’s back catalogue. I mostly stick to Sweet Bonanza and Sweet Bonanza, both load quick on mobile browser. Live dealer’s Evolution, so it’s what you’re getting — actual dealers, Crazy Time if that’s your thing. There’s a sportsbook too, and it I’ve used a handful of times for footy, it’s fine, nothing more.
Bonus-wise it’s a 100% match to ?125 plus 100 spins thrown in, and you need the code JOIN002 at deposit or it won’t trigger. Check the playthrough first, the requirement is fairly standard either. Don’t expect free credit without depositing unfortunately. For the what’s running currently, you’ll find them at tenobet casino rather than taking my word for it. Minimum deposit is ?10, standard stuff, registration took under five minutes.
Payments have been generally fine for me. Cards go through, Skrill and Neteller are supported, and crypto if you prefer. E-wallet withdrawals have come through same day twice; card payouts took a bit longer. What did wind me up was the verification — it took about two days to clear my documents, so the first cashout just sat there the whole time. Not a scam, just slower than I’d like.
Other gripes: there’s no app, so you’re on browser only. Works fine on Android though an app would be nicer. Logging in is occasionally sluggish at peak times. Support’s fine — maybe five minutes to get a human, though the first replies feel a bit scripted. Get past the script and they’re helpful enough.

Been using Tenobet for the spring, so I reckon I have enough experience to give an honest take. Stumbled on it off a mate who was chasing a site with decent slot coverage without all the deposit limit nagging you get now on the UK licensed sites. Worth saying up front: it’s not UK Gambling Commission licensed and it isn’t on the GamStop scheme, which will matter to some of you a lot.
Lobby’s genuinely big — about 4,000+ slots going by the counter, and the providers that matter are present: Pragmatic Play, Net Ent, Play n GO, Big Time Gaming, Yggdrasil, Microgaming. Mainly I grind Sweet Bonanza plus Gates of Olympus, both behave properly in browser. Live side is Evolution, which means what you’re getting — actual dealers, Crazy Time and Lightning Roulette when I fancy a punt on something daft. They do sports as well, and it I’ve used a handful of times for footy, it’s fine, nothing more.
Bonus-wise is a 100% match to ?125 plus 100 spins thrown in, you have to use the promo code JOIN002 or it won’t trigger. Do read the terms before you commit, the requirement is not the loosest to be honest. No no-deposit freebie that I could find. If you want to see the live offers, they’re listed at tenobet rather than taking my word for it. Min deposit’s a tenner, signing up took under five minutes.
Payments have been the better half in my experience. Cards go through, Skrill and Neteller are supported, Bitcoin and a few other coins for anyone who wants that. My Skrill cashouts have landed within a day; cards were a bit longer. My main gripe was the verification — it took a day and a half to approve my ID, so the first cashout just sat there until that cleared. Not dodgy, just slow.
Couple of niggles: they don’t have an app, so you’re on mobile browser only. Works fine on my phone though I’d prefer a proper app. Logging in can be sluggish at peak times. Support’s fine — maybe five minutes to get a human, but the opening messages read like templates. Get past the script and they sort it.

Been playing at Tenobet since roughly the spring, and I suppose I’ve got enough experience to give an honest take. Found it off a mate who wanted a site with half-decent game coverage that didn’t have all the affordability checks you see everywhere now on the UKGC sites. Worth saying up front: it’s not UK Gambling Commission licensed and it isn’t on the GamStop scheme, and that cuts both ways.
The lobby is genuinely big — about 3,500+ titles last I looked, and the names you’d want are present: Pragmatic, Net Ent, Play n GO, BTG, Betsoft, Microgaming’s back catalogue. I mostly grind Sweet Bonanza plus Book of Dead, both load quick on mobile browser. They do sports as well, and it gets a bit of use from me on footy, it’s fine, nothing more.
The welcome thing is a 100% match to ?125 and 100 free spins, and you need the code JOIN002 at deposit otherwise it just doesn’t apply. Do read the terms first, the requirement is not the loosest to be honest. There’s no no-deposit bonus that I could find.
