Action of Slip Masterbatches:
Fatty acid amides find application as slip additives. During processing these masterbatches are solubilized in the amorphous melt, but as the cooling of the polymer occurs the fatty acid amide is "squeezed" out forming a lubricating layer at the polymer surface. Addition of slip additive thus gives easy slippage of film over other surfaces.
Slow Slip Masterbatches:
Slow Slip additive masterbatches are based on highly pure erucamide – a slow slip additive. Films made with slow slip additives can be printed offline (after a few days) Normal addition levels vary between 1% – 3% depending upon desired reduction in COF or reduction in surface roughness.
