India in Partnership with Sweden aims to be More Focused on e-Mobility, Waste Management Sectors

India anticipates a strong partnership with Sweden in the coming years, for the sectors including Smart City projects, e-Mobility, and Waste Management, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Issues on Climate Change would be another key area over which the Centre will be focusing on.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven were together for a virtual India-Sweden summit held on March 5th 2021. It was the fifth interaction between the two Prime Ministers since 2015.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed that the association between the two can progress further in terms of innovation, investment, startups, technological solutions and research.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the values the two nations share such as democracy, equality, rule of law, pluralism, freedom of speech, justice and human rights. He added that it is these shared values that laid the foundation stone of strengthening the relations between India and Sweden.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with the people of Sweden on behalf of the entire citizens of India for the violent attacks that happened on the 3rd of March in Sweden and prayed for the faster recovery of the victims. He also expressed empathy for the loss of lives in the face of COVID-19 in Sweden. Prime Minister Narendra Modi embraced Sweden's decision to step into the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
The two nations also embarked on a joint initiative named the Leadership Group on Industry Transition (LeadIT) that went on a launch during the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019 in New York.
