One of Amazon's unique selling points is its Easy Returns policy. Amazon has worked hard to make returns as simple as purchasing something from the website. You can return any product that does not meet your criteria with a few simple clicks.
But have you ever wondered what happens to all the products that you return to Amazon? Returning products is a cumbersome task for Amazon, and the process can sometimes get costly.
Here are a few things you should know about Amazon Returns,
These are the most common types of returns on Amazon. Such returns may occur for a variety of reasons, including broken product delivery, incorrect item delivery, incorrect size/color delivery, faulty product delivery, and so on.
Amazon handles these returns differently in each case. For example, if the seller makes a mistake, they are expected to cover the costs of return and replacement. Similarly, if the return is the result of a courier error, the courier company is fined.
Different categories may be assigned to open-form returned items. Returns that are in good condition, for example, may be resold to other consumers.
What if you’re out and your house is closed? Would an Amazon delivery guy be waiting outside your house till you come back? Of course not!
When it comes to delivering a product, Amazon normally makes several attempts. If it is already undeliverable, it is returned to the seller.
These items are typically still in their original packaging and haven't been opened. Such items are returned to the warehouse, ready to be sold to a new customer.
Sold to Refurbished Firms
Smartphones, laptops, tablets, and other electronic devices are all subjected to this process. The seller or Amazon sells opened items to refurbishing companies, who then resell them to end-users as 'certified refurbished.' To render these refurbished items as good as new, some parts may be replaced.
Sold at heavily discounted rates to employees
Some returned products in working condition may be sold at heavily discounted rates to the seller's employees.

Products subjected to RECYCLING
Products that have been returned but are too damaged are sold to recycling companies. Individual pieces can be removed by the recycling company and sold to its distributor partners.
Products that end in LANDFILL
Some returned items unfortunately may end up in a landfill. This occurs when the cost of recovery and repackaging is greater than the potential profit earned by selling it to another customer.
Returning items to Amazon is a simple and painless procedure. It's a win-win situation for loyal customers. However, there have been many instances where people have taken advantage of Amazon's no-hassle returns policy. Some people, for example, break something and then run to Amazon to claim that they received it damaged.
Such things impose an additional burden on Amazon's return process. As previously stated, it is not easy to dispose of Amazon returns. As a result, it is preferable to value Amazon returns rather than attempting to exploit the process incorrectly.
